Efforts to make an organization more sustainable has dramatic impact on our natural resources. The Certification process shows the public that an organization is taking strides to reduce their impact, leading the charge in their local community.

The Sustainable Green Business Certification program recognizes business and non-profit organizations that are making a difference. The certification shows to the public that the company has accepted the challenge to not only practice Green Sustainable practices in their business, but is taking a leadership role in the communities and regions in which they operate. Community Greenhouse Foundation has been promoting sustainable communities and best practices since 2003 and shines a light on people and organizations doing good, locally, via their Green Community online sites, such as GreenNEPA.com and GreenOrlando.com.

Through igourmet’s current business practices and their commitment to implement energy, water and solid waste reduction programs, they have a positive impact on their business and community. They will reduce their energy usage by over 250,000 Kwh or enough energy to light 66 homes for three years and will also reduce air pollution (CO2) by 143 tons equivalent to removing 20 cars a year from the road. Along with these positive environmental impacts, igourmet will also realize a cost saving of over $23,000.

“When igourmet enrolled to take our “Green America Business Challenge” we already knew they were doing good things in regard to their environment responsibility. When we started to review their data, the proof was in the assessment”, said Richard Evans, CEO of the Community Greenhouse Foundation. “They should be recognized for their commitment and that is one of the reasons we developed the program”, he added.
